Nationwide Echo of Patriotism: Over 21 Lakh Students in Odisha Unite in Mass Rendition of Vande Mataram on National Youth Day

– More Than 16,000 Educational Institutions Join Hands to Honor Swami Vivekananda’s Legacy, Fostering National Unity

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 12: In a resounding display of national pride and youthful energy, over 21 lakh students across Odisha came together in a historic mass rendition of India’s national song, Vande Mataram, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and National Youth Day. This statewide initiative, which saw participation from more than 16,000 educational institutions, underscores the enduring spirit of patriotism among India’s young generation and serves as an inspiring model for the nation.

The synchronized singing took place at 11 am simultaneously in schools, colleges, and universities—both government and private—spanning every corner of Odisha. Students, teachers, and staff members lent their voices in unison, creating an electrifying atmosphere of unity and devotion to the motherland.

This massive participation highlights the role of youth in preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage, aligning with the national vision of a vibrant, self-reliant India.Organized collaboratively by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, the Higher Education Department, the School and Mass Education Department, and the Sports and Youth Services Department of the Government of Odisha, the event brought together lakhs of participants. It not only paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of empowerment and service but also reinforced the collective commitment of India’s youth to national progress and harmony.

Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister for Higher Education, Sports and Youth Services, and Odia Language, Literature and Culture, expressed his elation at the program’s success, calling it a “historic moment.” He stated, “The collective rendition of the national song by over 21 lakh youth reflects Odisha’s deep sense of dedication and commitment to the nation, inspiring similar initiatives across India.”The Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to all participating institutions, students, teachers, and staff for their enthusiasm and efforts in making the Vande Mataram mass singing program a grand success.

This event stands as a testament to how regional efforts can amplify national sentiments, encouraging other states to foster such patriotic engagements among the youth.
