Lineman Diwas 2025: Tata Power Discoms’ Linemen recognized by Central Electricity Authority

New Delhi, March 5 : Tata Power Odisha and Delhi Discoms achieved a significant national recognition as linemen from these utilities were felicitated by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on Lineman Diwas 2025 in New Delhi.

The company operates distribution companies in Odisha, Delhi, Mumbai, and Ajmer, serving 12.5 million consumers through its Discoms, delivering reliable and affordable electricity to both urban and rural communities across these regions.

A special recognition segment honoured four high-performing Discoms and five Best Linemen. Among the awardees were Ladu Kishore Pradhan from TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd. and Jai Hind from Tata Power-DDL for their exemplary contributions to power distribution and service reliability.

More than 160 linemen and linewomen from over 45 state and private power distribution, generation, and transmission companies across India participated in the event, including representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Established in 2021, Lineman Diwas acknowledges the unwavering commitment of frontline workers who maintain India’s power infrastructure. This year’s event, graced by Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson and Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government of India, Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, highlighted the dedication of these professionals, who work in extreme weather conditions to ensure uninterrupted electricity for millions of consumers.

The recent Cyclone Dana in Odisha caused widespread disruptions in power network. Linemen from Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms rose to the occasion and played a pivotal role in swiftly restoring power to hospitals, schools, banks, and essential services, often working under hazardous conditions.

Their extraordinary service was recognized at the national level, reinforcing their indispensable role in disaster recovery and power restoration.

Beyond recognition, Tata Power-led Discoms continue to prioritize the well-being of their linemen. Regular safety training programs are conducted equipping linemen with essential skills and knowledge. The focus remains on building a Zero Harm Culture, ensuring safety remains at the core of operations.

This marks the second major national-level acknowledgment for Tata Power Discoms following the recently released Discom Ratings by the Ministry of Power. Tata Power-led distribution companies (Discoms) have secured top national rankings among 63 power utilities in India, reaffirming company’s leadership in the sector.
