Land rights crucial for life and livelihood, say speakers at Bhubaneswar seminar

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 14: Land rights are fundamental for securing life and livelihood, particularly for the landless, speakers underlined at a seminar on “Land Rights & Bhoodan” held at Jayadev Bhawan here today. The event was organized to mark the 131st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave, the pioneer of the Bhoodan movement.

The seminar brought together eminent personalities from diverse fields. Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhakta Charan Das, Nayagarh MLA Arun Sahoo, AMA Odisha and Sambad Group Chairman Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Loksevak Mandal Vice Chairman and Daily Samaj’s Deepak Malviya, Chairperson of Kasturba Gandhi Trust, Assam, Damayanti Devi, and former Election Commission of India Advisor Dr. Bhagban Prakash addressed the gathering.

The meeting was presided over by Jayant Das, Director of OTV, and coordinated by Manoj Jena, Secretary of VSP and Central Government Member of the NHRC, New Delhi.

Speakers recalled Vinoba Bhave’s lifelong mission to ensure equitable land distribution and emphasized that his vision remains highly relevant in addressing present-day issues of social justice, rural development, and livelihood security.
