Karnataka Police chief Praveen Sood is next CBI director for 2 years

NEW DELHI, MAY 14: Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood on Sunday was appointed as the new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), an order by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions read. He will hold the post for the next two years.

A graduate of IIT-Delhi, Sood joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1986. As the Commissioner of Police of Mysore City from 2004 to 2007, he was instrumental in the arrest of a Pakistan-origin terrorist during his stint.

As Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru city, he launched  “Namma 100” an “Emergency Response System” for the citizens in distress. Sood was also instrumental in launching “Suraksha” App and “Pink Hoyasala” managed by all-women cops, especially for the women and children in distress.
