JP Nadda: Congress is spokesperson of Urban Naxalism, encourages divisive forces

‘In BJP, a leader’s son does become leader,’ asserts BJP president

By Sukant Mohanty

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Thursday mounted a no-holds-barred attack on the Congress saying the  grand old party had turned out to be a “spokesperson of Urban Naxalism.”

Nadda, while joining Sadasyata Abhiyan, or membership drive, of Odisha state BJP unit here, said the Congress was encouraging the “divisive forces” in the country.

“In 1952, Bharatiya Jana Sangh had made it clear that there cannot be two laws and two heads of the state in a county. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and skillful legislative initiative of Amit Shah, we could see in the Parliament on August 5, 2019, that Article 370 was abrogated from the Constitution of India. As a result Jammu & Kashmir fully became a part of India constitutionally. We have been consistent in our ideology,” said Nadda.

Stating that people always took interest in BJP’s economic agenda, the BJP president said the Modi government always followed the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikash, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayash.’

“We believe in last-man and last-mile delivery. Supreme Court had ordered to stop ‘triple talaq.’ Perhaps you don’t know that ‘triple talaq’ doesn’t exist in Islamic countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and Indonesia. However, ‘triple talaq’ was prevalent in India in the name of secularism and Muslim sisters were deprived of being included in the mainstream. Prime Minister Modi gave them their rights and that is part of our ideology. As part of our commitment, the Ram Temple was inaugurated by PM Modi on January 22, 2024. We are an ideology-based party and we have proved it,” Nadda further said.

“People often talk about inflation and unemployment. When the economies of America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and China are in crisis and their growth rate is below five, India’s growth rate is expected to reach seven per cent. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is saying that India is the only bright spot. We have become the fifth largest economy in the world and in the third term of PM Modi, India is going to be the third largest economy in the world. Ten years back, 92 per cent of our mobiles were being imported. However, 97 per cent of mobile manufacturing is done in India now. India is now the third largest exporter of toys in the world. India is now the third largest market in automobiles as well. This is the size and growth of the economy that is taking place in India. More than Rs 10 lakh crores have been allocated to build infrastructure across the country. Ayushman Bharat is now the largest health coverage programme covering 55 crore people which is 40 per cent of the Indian population. Six crore elderly people will be part of the scheme soon,” he added.

Nadda urged people to join hands to strengthen the BJP to make India ‘Bikshit Bharat’ by 2047 under the leadership of PM Modi.

“There are more than 5,000 big and small political parties and nearly 50 active parties in this country. However, the BJP is the only political party which is a national party; it is a democratic party; it is an ideology-based party, it has a cadre base and it has a mass following. Have you ever seen Congress giving so much importance to membership drive in a manner that the party’s National Chairman, State Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and State President will be in one stage? This tells volumes about the seriousness of the membership drive in the BJP,” said the BJP chief.

Stating that membership is very much transparent in the BJP, Nadda said it is a democratic and a transparent party.

“After the membership drive, there will be active members and then the election will start from the circle level. Subsequently, there will be district-level elections and state-level elections. The national-level president will be elected by state-level representatives. This kind of process is only followed by the BJP. This is why, any leader’s son doesn’t become a leader in the BJP, rather a person who comes from the grassroots level becomes a leader of our party,” he said.

It is also an ideological party. We are also a cadre-based party. Our last membership was 18 crore. Our membership, taking it from the Prime Minister, national president and a common member, is renewed every six years. Our Prime Minister became a member again on September 2, followed by me and then home minister Amit Shah. Now our membership has crossed six crore. Our membership drives are conducted in a very systematic manner,” said Nadda.
