INCAA Foundation Day and Symposium held at Morigaon College (A)..Assam

 Guwahati/Assam, Aug 23 : Hide quoted text Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA)is an Apex body of Anthropologists to promote research, educaion & professional excellence.

A  National Level Symposium on “Indigenous Knowledge System of Tiwas”, was organised by the Department of Anthropology of Morigaon College (Autonomous) in collaboration with IGNCA,NE, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India  on the occasion of 21st foundation day of INCAA-GRC on Saturday.

 The Day was started with hoisting flag of the organization & theme song of Anthropologists.

The Meeting was innitiated by Dr. Nilofar Jasmin, HOD, Department of Anthropology ,welcome adress was delivered by Dr. Nilomoni Phukan, Vice, Principal.

Dr. Sapan Randhir Singh ,Regional Director of IGNCA,NE was present as Guest of Honour. In his speech,Dr.Singh dwelt at length about the activities of the organization.

 The Foundation Day lecture was deliverd by Prof. Arup Ratan Bandopadhay, former HOD of Calcutta University & a renowned anthropologist. Dr Bandopadhay in his thought provoking lecture delved into deep on the subject about indigenous Knowledge in day to day life of the society and maladies of present society which is going a stray from the very natural path. He observed that the changing food habit is the root cause of non communicable diseases of the families in the society.

Resource persons of the symposium on Tiwa Indigenous Knowledge system -Dr. Dhanada Kakati,Asst. Professor, History.Jagiroad College and Dr. Ajit Konwar, Asst. Prof. English.

Presenting their papers described the traditon and culture of Tiwa community of Assam and Meghalaya.. Dignatories from different universities colleges & other institutions attended in the function. Research scholars & Retired teachers were present along with  the office bearers & members of INCAA.

The Meeting was presided over by Prof.Tilottoma Baruah , President, GRCINCAA  .

 Prof. Chandana Sarma,Secretary, guwahati Regional Committee of INCAA, Advisor Dr.Jonali Devi, Vice president Kalpana Choudhury were also  present.
