Endeavour to Empower: AM/NS India launches mushroom spawn unit at Nuagarh

New Delhi,Sept. 10: In its endeavour to empower and strengthen the local community, a new Mushroom Spawn Unit was inaugurated at Nuagarh in Paradeep by the CSR wing of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) on September 7, 2022. About 300 women from different SHG groups participated in the inauguration ceremony.
Maa Sarala SHG Group has been entrusted with the responsibility to run the spawn unit. Necessary training and hand hold support has been provided to the SHG group members to equip them with the system for operating the spawn unit efficiently. AM/NS India has provided Luminar Machine, Auto clave and other accessories to produce mushroom.The unit has a capacity to produce 500 bottles mushroom per day which can adequately meetthe demand for mushroom in the local market.
On the occasion, Sri G Suresha, Executive Director, Odisha Asset, AM/NS India, said, “We are taking up various developmental activities to make women members of our nearby community self-reliant. We are confident that this spawn unit will go a long way in meeting this aspiration of ours.”
Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head CSR, AM/NS India has assured the SHG group to extend all support to make them self-sustainable.
Mr.Satya Sunadar Pital, Dy. CEO, ORMAS appreciated the effort of AM/NS India for creating opportunities for empowering SHG groups. Among the other guests present on the occasion were Mr. Prakash Ch. Das,General Secretary, Odisha Mushroom Growers’ Federation and Mr. Sudhal Kumar Swain.
