‘I’m going to be a judge’: Accused Kerala lawyer begs family to ‘drop’ rape case
Kerala,Dec 1 : A government lawyer accused of rape in Kerala called up the survivor’s family with a tearful plea to withdraw the case against him, telling them, “Don’t spoil my life… I am going to be selected as a judge”.
A case was lodged against senior government pleader at the Kerala High Court, PG Manu, by Ernakulam Rural Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a client at his office and her residence.
The survivor had approached the lawyer seeking legal advice in a separate case. When the woman went to Manu’s office in October, he allegedly raped her and threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident.
According to the survivor’s complaint, Manu raped her on two other instances after this. He also took objectionable photos and videos of her on his mobile phone without her consent.
After the survivor filed a case against Manu, he contacted her family attempting to settle the matter. In an audio recording of the call that has been accessed by India Today, the government lawyer can be heard speaking to the survivor’s cousin, crying and begging him to drop the rape case.
