60-year-old man arrested in Indore for sending death threat to Rahul Gandhi

Madhya Pradesh,Apr 28 :  A 60-year-old man accused of sending a letter with death threats to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi last year before the Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Madhya Pradesh was arrested on Thursday. The sender of the letter had threatened to bomb Rahul Gandhi as soon as the yatra entered Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The letter was found outside a sweet shop in Indore.

Dayasingh alias Aishilal Jham was arrested under the National Security Act after police received information that he was about to flee by train.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Nimish Agrawal said the district administration had issued an order that Jham be jailed under the NSA. Agrawal said it is not yet clear why the accused sent the letter to Rahul Gandhi and a probe is underway.

Right after the letter was discovered in November 2022, a case was registered under section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified person and an investigation was launched.
