Five arrested For Cheating shopkeepers around Rs 52 Lakh through fake Point of Sale Machines (PSMs)

Jajpur,AUG 2 : The Jajpur Police on Monday arrested five persons including a couple for cheating three jewellery shop owners around Rs 52 Lakh through fake Point of Sale Machines (PSMs) .
All the arrested accused supplied fake Point of Sale Machines (PSMs) to the shop owners and illegally mapped the machines to their accounts instead of the accounts of the shop owners as a result the payment of many customers’ money was transferred to the accounts of the accused .
All the five accused have been identified as Sunil Naik , his wife Malati Naik of Bhubaneswar , Sanjiv Das of Tangi , Pramod Jena of Jajpur and Milan Kumar Singh of Nischintakoili .
Police seized 27 cheque books, 63 ATM cards, one credit card, seven mobile phones, one laptop, 21 bank passbooks and 40 SIM cards. As per our investigation, the accused looted around Rs 24 Lakh from Prusti Jewellery shop at Haripur , Rs 7 Lakh from Patra Jewellery shop from Kuakhia and Rs 7 Lakh from Krishna Jewellery shop at Jajpur town, said Saroj Upadhaya, the Sub- Divisional Police Officer of Jajpur .
