CEO Assam Reviews Poll Preparedness in Morigaon District for the 09-Nagaon HPC Bye-Election 2026

 Morigaon/Assam, Oct 3: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Assam, Shri Anurag Goel, IAS, today visited Morigaon district and reviewed the preparedness of the district administration for the ensuing 09-Nagaon Parliamentary Constituency (HPC) Bye-Election 2026.

The CEO chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall of the Office of the District Commissioner in the presence of District Commissioner and District Election Officer, Smt. Srishti Singh, IAS, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Shri Nishant Saurabh, IPS.

During the meeting, Shri Anurag Goel, IAS, reviewed the overall election preparedness of the district, including the functioning of various Election Cells and the deployment and activities of Flying Squad Teams (FSTs) and Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs) for effective enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. He took stock of the arrangements being put in place for the smooth, free and fair conduct of the bye-election and sought updates from the officials concerned on various aspects of election management.

Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Shri Satyajit Chetia, ACS; Co-District Commissioner, Laharighat, Shri Anurag Phukan, ACS; Co-District Commissioner, Jagiroad, Shri Hriday Kumar Das, ACS; Additional District Commissioners Shri Rakesh Deka, ACS, Shri Uday Shankar Dutta, ACS and Dr. Nilakhi Baishya, ACS; Election Officer Smt. Gunjana Saikia, ACS; Assistant Commissioner Smt. Ankita Dutta, ACS; and other officials of the district administration attended the meeting.

Following the review meeting, the CEO, accompanied by the District Commissioner and District Election Officer, Smt. Srishti Singh, IAS, visited Morigaon College to inspect the designated Strong Room and Counting Centre. The team reviewed the arrangements and security measures in place at the premises.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Nishant Saurabh, IPS; Co-District Commissioner, Jagiroad, Shri Hriday Kumar Das, ACS; Additional District Commissioner Shri Rakesh Deka, ACS; Election Officer Smt. Gunjana Saikia, ACS; and other concerned officials were present during the inspection.
