BPNSI conducts technical training on steel production and energy efficiency at Narbheram Power and Steel

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 12: The Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPNSI), Bhubaneswar, organised a one-day technical training programme on Steel Production and Energy Efficiency at Narbheram Power and Steel Pvt. Ltd. in Dhenkanal on May 20, 2025.
The initiative was conducted under BPNSI’s flagship Professional Pre-Program (3P) series aimed at upgrading technical skills of industry professionals in the steel sector.
The training, directed by Prof. Satyapriya Satapathy, Senior Assistant Professor at BPNSI, focused on strengthening the operational competencies of plant personnel in critical areas of modern steelmaking and sustainable practices.
The programme featured a series of expert-led sessions. Dr. Rama Krushna Sabat delivered a detailed presentation on induction furnace steelmaking and continuous casting, while Ms. Shaswoti Mohanty explained Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) production processes. Prof. Satapathy, who headed the session, highlighted energy-efficient technologies for sponge iron production—an increasingly important area in the drive towards green and sustainable steel manufacturing.
BPNSI officials stated that the training is part of a wider national effort to bridge the skill gap in India’s steel industry, ensuring that professionals remain aligned with both technological advancements and global sustainability standards.
