Based on the written complaint of the nephew of the deceased TMC worker, district police registered a case. The six arrested accused include Suzauddin Sekh, and his two sons, namely, Lucky and Raja, the police confirmed.

Firoz Islam, the nephew of Newton Seikh has alleged, “Bombs were thrown randomly. A few miscreants from the Congress party threw bombs at them. Hearing the sound of an explosion, we rushed and found injured people lying on the road. My uncle Newton Seikh died while he was being taken to the hospital. It is a political matter, they have old grudges. Those who charged the bombs are former BJP workers and now they are in the congress party. My uncle Newton Seikh and Laltu Seikh are in TMC.”

Former CPIM MP Salim said, “Earlier they used to say, we are supporting TMC to save lives, now they are losing lives and being killed by TMC themselves for supporting TMC. Later they have to leave TMC to save lives.”

Dhruba Saha, BJP President of Birbhum district, demanded an impartial and fair investigation into the explosion.

He said, “A fair investigation should be done. It’s not possible by state police. The truth will come out only if any central investigation agency conducts an investigation.”
