Balaji College of Nursing observes POSH Day to promote workplace safety for women

Balangir, Aug. 3: Balaji College of Nursing in Balangir on Saturday observed POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Day, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for women in the workplace.
The event featured an awareness workshop where legal experts, law enforcement officers, academicians, and social workers came together to discuss the importance of preventing sexual harassment and fostering gender-sensitive workspaces. The session emphasized the need for educational institutions to take proactive measures in safeguarding the rights and dignity of women.
The programme was led by Principal Debasis Pandia and managed under the guidance of Managing Director Kailash Agrawal, Director Abhilash Agrawal, and Sujata Agrawal.
Among the key dignitaries present were District Legal Aid Secretary Pabitra Nanda Pradhan, DSP IUCAW Komal Kumar Panda, DSP HRPC Tarabati Pradhan, Reader in Sanskrit Dr. Suresh Sadangi, and noted social worker Bishnu Prasad Kedia. The guests underlined the urgent need to build awareness around sexual harassment laws and create institutional mechanisms to address complaints swiftly and sensitively.
Marking a significant step forward, the college also announced the formation of an Internal Committee under the POSH Act to address grievances and ensure the safety of female students and staff.
The event concluded with a powerful drama performed by the nursing students, portraying real-life scenarios of workplace harassment and advocating for collective responsibility in building respectful environments. Jyoti Pattnaik delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, faculty, and students for their active participation.
