Awareness Program on IPR

Odisha, Sep 10 : One Day Awareness Program on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) under MSME Innovative Scheme has been jointly organized by MSME-DFO, Cuttack and CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) on Sep 04, 2025 at CSIR-IMMT Auditorium, Bhubaneswar with a series of sessions on various aspects of IPR.
This program has been channelized through the CRTDH, InTEC, BITE C @ CSIR-IMMT and MAITRI components of CSIR-IMMT in association with MSME-DFO and attended with about 800 participants covering MSME, Startups, Entrepreneurs, Students, Faculty, Academia, Research and other professionals across Odisha attesting to a great success on sensitization of IPRs.
The Inaugural session was represented with the Directors and other officials from both the organizing teams. Smt Nitisha Mann, Deputy Director, MSME-DFO, Cuttack has given welcome address and explained about the MSME Innovative scheme and its various components for the benefit of MSME and all other participants.
Shri P K Gupta, Joint Director & HOO, MSME-DFO, Cuttack has given the key note address and highlighted about various schemes and program of MoMSME for the benefit of MSME and others and further insisted for the capturing all possible and potential IPRs.
Chief Scientists from CSIR-IMMTY, Dr L D Besra and Dr Bibhuranjan Nayak have given their remarks and observations on various activities of CSIR-IMMT for handholding MSME, Startup and other entrepreneurs and echoed the importance of Innovation and IPRs.
Dr Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT has given the inaugural address for this one day awareness program and detailed on the various activities of CSIR-IMMT and also CSIR and emphasized on the importance of innovation and intellectual property rights citing several practical examples and case studies. Further, he also stressed on collaborations and joint initiatives among the potential stakeholders from MSME, Startups, academia, other industry and society at large.
Dr T Pavan Kumar, Principal Scientist & IP Coordinator of CSIR-IMMT has presented on various components of activities from CSIR-IMMT under the banners of CRTDH for nurturing MSME, InTEC for Startup Incubation, BITE C @ CSIR-IMMT at CSIR-IC-Mumbai for business and innovation connect b/b east and west and MAITRI for nurturing innovation among the potential stakeholders. Further, he also explained about the long legacy of joint efforts by CSIR-IMMT and MSME-DFO, Cuttack for strengthening MSME and other relevant sectors around Odisha.
During the inaugural, CSIR-IMMT has transferred its technology on Silicon Carbide from Rice Husk to a MSME from Karnataka and signed a MoU with Geovale for joint R&D in 4M areas. Further, NRDC has transferred a technology of CSIR-CFTRI to another MSME from Odisha.
Shri Sohan Lal Khadia, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, Cuttack has proposed the vote of thanks and also explained about the financial assistance provided to MSME for obtaining IPRs.
The technical sessions were conducted by three experts namely, Dr S K Kar, Ex CTTC and currently the Advisor at CGU on the importance of patents and trademarks for MSME; Dr B K Sahu, Regional Head, NRDC-Bhubaneswar on Technology Transfer for MSME and Dr T Pavan Kumar from CSIR-IMMT on IPRs –Importance and Impact with case studies. All throughout the event the Auditorium was full and filled with lots of enthusiasm and spirit for learning on IPRs, which reflects the success and energy of the ecosystem around.
Further, a detailed interactive session was conducted by Shri Sohan Lal Khadia, from MSME-DFO and Dr T Pavan Kumar from CSIR-IMMT and clarified all the queries raised by the participants. The feedback expressed by the participants during the sessions is a reflection and direct attestation to the overall success and grand conclusion of this one day awareness program on IPR.
