At 3.3 degree Celsius, Delhi records season’s lowest minimum temperature

NEW DELHI, JAN 15: Delhi on Monday recorded the coldest morning this winter as the minimum temperature dipped further to 3.3°C at Safdarjung – the official weather observatory of the national capital. In Lodhi Road, another weather monitoring station in Delhi, the minimum temperature dropped to 3.1°C.

Harsh weather due to intense cold wave and thick fog have seen the minimum temperature of the national capital consistently dip over the past few days. On Sunday, Delhi saw a minimum temperature of 3.5°C at Safdarjung and 3.4°C at Lodhi Road. The mercury has remained below 4 degrees Celsius in Delhi since Friday as residents shiver in biting cold.

Thick fog blanketed the city this morning as was the case on Sunday and the days before. Over 100 flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, flight tracker website flightradar24 showed. Train operations have also remained affected due to the fog and cold wave. As per latest information, as many as 18 trains to Delhi from various parts of the country were delayed on Monday.

The IMD morning bulletin said that dense to very dense fog will continue till tomorrow in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab. Furthermore, cold to severe cold day conditions have also been forecast to prevail across North India till tomorrow.
