Asim Munir passes off pic of Chinese drill as strike on India, gifts it to Pak PM

NEW DELHI,MAY 26 : Pakistan attempted to spread yet another piece of propaganda when Army Chief Asim Munir presented Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with a dated photo of a Chinese military drill as a souvenir. Munir falsely claimed that the photo depicted a Pakistani strike against India.

India has shared extensive photo and video evidence of its actions against Pakistan, highlighting significant damage to its airbases. However, Munir’s team resorted to using an old image of Chinese military exercises to claim a victory they could never achieve.

The photo is actually an old picture used multiple times over the last five years. It is of PHL-03 which is a multiple rocket launcher of Chinese origin. It was originally shared in 2019 and is attributed to photographer Huang Hai.

The photo was reportedly presented at a high-profile dinner hosted by Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir. The event, meant to honour the political leadership, the armed forces’ “steadfast commitment,” and the “indomitable spirit” of the people of Pakistan as seen during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, became the subject of mockery on social media.

Social media users were quick to point out that the photo was not of Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan al-Marsus but from 2019 Chinese drills.

“Shehbaz Sharif Gifted Chinese Drill Pic As ‘Op Bunyan’ Memento To Pak Army Chief. I don’t think they know anything about Google Image Search,” one user wrote.

Another user wrote, “Pak PM just gifted Asim Munir a photo from a 2019 Chinese military drill—faking war glory against India. Instead, India provided corroborated evidences of strikes with precision and power during #OperationSindoor. Denial, deception, and delusion remain state policy of Pakistan.
