ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India awards Beti Padhao Scholarships to 84 girl students in Odisha

Odisha/Keonjhar/Sundargarh, Aug12 : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a leading steelmaker, awarded the ‘Beti Padhao Scholarships’ to 84 academically meritorious girl students from the Barbil and Koira regions during a scholarship award ceremony held in Barbil. A flagship CSR initiative of AM/NS India, ‘Beti Padhao Scholarship’ aims to bridge the gap in education finance by offering scholarships to girl students from economically weaker sections to fulfil their academic aspirations.

The initiative is aligned with the government’s efforts to promote the education of the girl child. The scholarship recipients range from Class 9 students to those pursuing higher secondary education, undergraduate degrees, ITI, diplomas, engineering, medical, and other professional courses, as well as state-level and national-level athletes.

AM/NS India has partnered with Protean eGov Technologies for mobilising the scholarships. Protean’sVidyasaarathi, a pioneering corporate scholarship management platform, has managed the complete scholarship lifecycle, including application, validation, allocation, and fund disbursement of the AM/NS India scholarships.The ‘Beti Padhao Scholarships’are awarded to candidates meticulously shortlisted through a selection framework ensuring merit and need-based eligibility.

The scholarships were presented to the recipients bythe Chief Guestof the event, Shri Rakesh Kumar Panda, OAS, Tahasildar, Barbil, in the presence of senior officials of AM/NS India – Shri Sharanappa Kambalii, Head – Mines Development, Shri Amit Kumar Dubey, Sr. General Manager – Mines Operations, Shri Satyakama Das, Mines Manager- Sagasahi Mine,  Dr. Murali Sahoo, Head HR- Mining, Odisha,along with students, their parents, and community members.

On the occasion Shri Rakesh Kumar Panda, said, “It is heartening to see efforts like this break financial barriers and create opportunities for young women to excel academically and professionally.”

Shri Sharanappa Kambalii, said, “Through the Beti Padhao Scholarships, AM/NS India reaffirms its commitment to empowering young women and fostering inclusive growth. By supporting their academic journeys, we are not only investing in individual potential but also strengthening the communities we serve. Education is a cornerstone of sustainable development, and we are proud to play a role in shaping a brighter, more equitable future.”

Under the’Beti Padhao Scholarship’initiative, AM/NS India is awarding scholarships to girl studentsin Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.Since its inception in March 2022, the initiative has positively impacted nearly 1,864 underprivileged girl studentsacross India.
