AM/NS India observes 54th National Safety Week

Bhubaneswar, March 21 : To spread awareness on the importance of health and safety at the workplace and in nearby communities, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) observed 54th National Safety Week in various operational locations across Odisha.
Keeping in line with this year’s theme set by the National Safety Council (NSC) – “Safety & Well-being crucial for Viksit Bharat”, various activities were conducted at the Paradeep Plant Complex and the Beneficiation Plant in Dabuna. The week commenced with an inaugural ceremony in Paradeep Plant Complex where the safety flag was hoisted by Shri Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India, in the presence of employees, associates and partners. As part of the weeklong celebrations, health & safety related activities were organised for employees and associates such as awareness sessions and team-building programs, mass rally within the plant premises, quiz competition, poster designing, slogan, poem and essay writing competitions. Safety team also introduced the ‘Suraksha Rath’ – a safety vehicle with a specific purpose of spreading awareness of safety within the plant premises for the duration of this campaign. An awareness session was also organised in Baldia village in Nuagarh where more than 150 women participated to learn more about kitchen safety and road safety.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India where he addressed the gathering and awarded the winners of the various competitions held during the week-long campaign. The ceremony also witnessed insightful discussions and on-stage performances by employees on health and safety.
The Odisha Projects team also observed National Safety Week across all project sites including Paradip, Sagasahi & Keonjhar. Similar activities such as spot the hazard for contract workers, online quiz for employees, and poster competition for associates were also organised. Awards for Best Safety Compliance and Best Housekeeping were also awarded to encourage safe behaviour and clean workplaces. Training programs were also conducted for contract employees on fatality prevention standards and life saving golden rules of safety. Closing ceremony was conducted across project sites with awards presented for competitions organised during the week.
With dedicated efforts and spirited participation, AM/NS India reaffirmed its commitment to creating a culture of health and safety across its operational sites and beyond.
