Air Force officer’s daughter Ishita Kishore becomes UPSC CSE 2022 topper with AIR 1
NEW DELHI,MAY 23 : Greater Noida resident Ishita Kishore, an alumna of Air Force Bal Bharti School and SRCC in Delhi, has emerged as the topper of UPSC CSE 2022 final results. Her outstanding achievement in the prestigious examination is a testament to her hard work and determination.
The Union Public Service Commission released the UPSC CSE 2022 final results on Tuesday and Ishita’s remarkable achievement as the topper, securing AIR 1, highlights the exceptional performance of women in this year’s examination.
Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra also secured top positions. Last year as well, the top spots in UPSC CSE were taken by women.
The commission has recommended a total of 933 candidates (613 men and 320 women) for appointment to various services, marking the beginning of their journey in civil services.

Having completed her education at Bal Bharti school, Ishita pursued Economics Honors at SRCC. Her academic background laid a strong foundation for her journey toward the civil services.
In an interview with Aajtak, Ishita expressed her joy, saying, “I am getting a lot of phone calls now. I am very happy. My family is there with me,” she says in an interview with Aajtak.
“This was my third attempt. I have worked really hard and it has been a long journey for me,” Ishita adds.
Ishita emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and instilling confidence while preparing for the UPSC exams. She acknowledged that every aspirant hopes for success and strives to secure a place in the civil services.
“Getting selected in the UPSC civil services is a big deal. I am very happy to have been given this opportunity to serve this country,” says the UPSC topper. “Overall, I just have a lot of gratitude,” she says.
A PASSION FOR SERVICE
Coming from a family with a strong military background, Ishita’s father being an Indian Air Force officer, she developed a deep-rooted passion for serving the nation.
“The drive has always been there to do something for my country, and work for its development. I have grown up in this environment. So, a desire had grown somewhere in me to do something for the governance of my country ,” Ishita says.
After gaining two years of work experience at Ernst and Young, Ishita realised that her heart was set on pursuing a career in the civil services. Her decision to shift her focus toward the UPSC exams showcased her commitment to public service and her determination to make a difference.
