After Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress considering east-to-west yatra: Jairam Ramesh

NEW DELHI,FEB 26 : Weeks after the successful completion of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress is now considering an east-to-west yatra, according to the party spokesperson, Jairam Ramesh.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, one of the longest padayatra, was carried out from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The east-to-west yatra will be carried out from Arunachal Pradesh’s Pasighat to Gujarat’s Porbandar, PTI reported.

The yatra, which was started by Rahul Gandhi from Kanyakumari on September 7, culminated in Srinagar on January 30.

Traversing through 13 states and one Union Territory, it covered a distance of over 4,000 km.

It was a remarkable attempt by Congress to showcase that it’s still capable of a sustained public outreach programme on the ground.

The march was largely perceived as Congress’ attempt to revive its political fortunes ahead of the 2024 general election.
