Aditya Birla Skill Centre Ushers in a New Era of Hope for Odisha’s Youth

Bhubaneswar, Aug.22 : Aditya Birla Skill Centre set up by the Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco at Baraipali in Sambalpur, has become a launchpad for hundreds of local young men and women seeking to rewrite their life stories not through charity, but by building skill, confidence, and careers.
Being set up in May 2024, this centre imparts skill building and skill enhancing trainings to the local youth in the domains of Electrical Technician, Consumer Durable Technician, Fashion Technician, Retail Sales Associate, and Financial Services. The centre is not only equipping students with hard skills but shaping personalities with communication training, digital literacy, life skills, and financial acumen, ensuring holistic readiness for the real world.
Till now 333 aspirants enrolling for the skill programmes. Among them, 196 have successfully completed their training. As per the record, 146 skilled aspirants have already been employed in various retail, garment industries, banks, and service centres, while nine have started their entrepreneurship journey. However, another 94 are in the process for securing jobs, and 178 awaiting for the opportunities. On average, individuals trained at ABSC are earning around 12,810 per month.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Kailash Pandey, the Mining Business Head and Head of Sambalpur Cluster, shared, “At Hindalco, we believe empowerment begins with education. The Skill Centre is more than a classroom it is a bridge between potential and purpose. We are proud to be part of journeys that transform lives and livelihoods.
The enrolled participants here receive holistic training that goes beyond academics. The curriculum focuses on personality development through leadership, communication, time management, and stress management, while also equipping them with compulsory digital literacy skills like MS Office, internet use, and digital finance awareness.
The impact is visible and personal. Youth who once struggled to speak in public now confidently attend interviews, contribute to household incomes, and serve as role models in their villages. Women have found not just jobs but dignity and self-respect.

Sharing experience about ABSC Ajay kumar bagh, from Dehripali, Sambalpur, said following a serious accident left him bedridden for 3 years, He felt demotivated and self-conscious. However, he didn’t give up. during his recovery, he learned about Aditya Birla Skills Centre and joined the FSA trade training program. With determination and community support, Ajay secured a job as a TCO at Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.
