Mob attacks people offering namaz at Sonipat mosque; 16 detained, probe on
Haryana,Apr 10: Tension prevailed in Sandal Kalan village of Haryana’s Sonipat after a mob of around 20 people allegedly vandalised a mosque and attacked the people offering namaz there on Sunday. The attackers were said to be locals from the same village.
As many as 15-20 armed men attacked people offering Ramadan prayers in a small mosque built by the community in the village. Pictures of the attackers carrying lathis (bamboo sticks) in their hands and roaming the streets of the village have emerged.

The reason behind the incident is not clear yet. An FIR has been registered against 19 people in the matter and police have detained 16 people in the case.
As many as nine people have been injured in the incident, namely Istaeq Ali, Alamir, Sabir Ali, Faryad, Ansar Ali, Julekha, Ali Taab, Nargis, and Jarina.

The injured were admitted to Sonipat Civil Hospital for treatment.
Sonipat is a major industrial area and the police are investigating the matter seriously. Police were deployed to the village immediately after the incident was reported.
