A couple  detained  for trying to bury  an 80  year old woman  alive

Jajpur, April 4 : A  couple  was  detained on Monday by the police allegedly for trying to bury  a 78 year old woman  alive  on Sunday in  Jajpur district.

 Such a shocking incident has occurred at Duttapur  village under  Mangalpur  police station . A video of the incident has gone viral on social media for which the police launched an investigation.  Our preliminary investigation points to a dispute over family property.  

  The victim woman   Sakhi Behera suffered serious injuries after her  son  Raghunath Behera and daughter-in- law  Madhusmita Behera  assaulted her and tried to bury her in bricks in the house .  The victim woman is now undergoing treatment in the  Community Health Center at Mangalpur.

We filed a case under sections- 457 294(Obscene acts)  323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt)   506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) , 341        ( Punishment for wrongful restraint)  and 34 (Common intention)  of IPC against both the  son and daughter-in- law of the victim woman   .  We are investigating the case”, said Inamul Haque, the IIC of Mangalpur police station.
