Bhubaneswar, Oct. 30: Reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment, rural development, and sustainable livelihood creation, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has achieved another significant milestone through its Vedanta Skill Centre, Lanjigada. The centre’s latest Assistant Electrician Training Batch recorded an impressive 87% placement rate, with 26 out of 30 trained candidates securing employment opportunities across leading companies.

The three-month Assistant Electrician training programme was designed to equip participants with industry-relevant technical knowledge and practical skills. Alongside domain-specific training, participants received instruction in IT literacy, communication skills, workplace ethics, interview preparation, personality development, and other employability-enhancing competencies to prepare them for today’s dynamic job market.

A key highlight of the batch is the placement of 11 candidates with Flipkart in Coimbatore. For many of these beneficiaries, travelling by flight to their respective work locations marked a life-changing first experience and a significant step towards financial independence. The initiative represents a significant contribution towards job creation in Lanjigarh, equipping local youth with the skills and opportunities needed to access formal employment and build sustainable careers.

Speaking on the milestone, Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO, Alumina Business, VAML, said, “At VAML, we believe that meaningful skill development can transform lives and unlock opportunities for long-term socio-economic growth. The success of this batch reflects the aspirations and determination of our youth, supported by quality training and strong industry linkages. Nituni Dandasena from Lanjigada, who secured a position in Coimbatore, said, “The training at Vedanta Skill Centre gave me the technical skills, confidence, and workplace readiness needed to secure employment. Getting selected by a leading company and travelling by flight to join my job was a dream come true. This opportunity has given me the confidence to support my family and build a better future.”

Among other candidates, Jaga Majhi from Sapulkucha also secured employment with Flipkart, Coimbatore, while Loknatha Majhi from Sanjamkiheju was placed with Tata Motors, Ahmedabad, securing a promising opportunity in the organised manufacturing sector.
