Delhi-Based Publishing Firm Extends Flood Relief to Upper Assam; Mayong Youths Lead Aid Effort in Nazira

Guwahati /Assam Sep 10 :  Although the flood situation in Upper Assam has now returned to normal, various organisations and institutions continue to provide relief materials to people affected by the floods.

On Wednesday, flood relief was distributed among residents of flood-hit Lunpuria village under the Nazira Assembly constituency in Sivasagar district, with financial assistance from officials of Delhi-based publishing firm Eternal Gengas Press Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with two voluntary organisations from Mayong in Morigaon district.

The relief distribution programme was organised by Creative Mayong Foundation and Rajamayong Yuva Mancha. Essential kitchen utensils and other household items were distributed in an organised manner among more than 200 families of Lunpuria village.

The village was severely affected by this year’s floods. With the floods taking a devastating turn, many families were unable to save even a single household item. In view of the situation, essential kitchen articles were distributed among the affected families on Wednesday.

A 15-member team representing the two Mayong-based voluntary organisations took part in the relief distribution programme. Those present included Dr. Utpal Nath, professor at Mayong Regional College and president of Creative Mayong; journalist Nazrul Islam; Creative Mayong vice-president Bipul Deka; secretary Moniratna Deka; joint secretary Durgeswar Nath; and Rajamayong Yuva Mancha secretary Rupam Nath, among others.

Earlier, a 50-member team of young volunteers from Mayong, under the initiative of the same two organisations, had distributed flood relief among 100 families at Rajapul Duwara village under the Nazira Assembly constituency. The volunteers had also provided physical labour to help several flood-affected families repair their damaged houses.

After receiving the relief materials, the flood-affected families of Lunpuria village expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Delhi-based publishing firm as well as the two Mayong-based voluntary organisations for their assistance.

Senior Nazira journalist Manoj Dutta, photojournalist Abdur Rahman, Debajit Nath, young entrepreneur Pradip Nath, Dilip Nath, Shailendra Kathar and Dilip Deka, along with several other prominent persons, also extended their support and cooperation to the relief distribution programme.
