JSW Steel-Odisha wins top awards for Business Excellence and Environmental leadership

Barbil, June 23: At the bustling 4th edition of the Minerals and Mining Conclave in Kolkata, the spotlight fell on JSW Steel’s Odisha Mining Division as it walked away with two prestigious Business Excellence Awards. Organised by ASSOCHAM Eastern Region, the conclave brought together industry leaders to celebrate innovation, sustainability, and transformation in the mining sector.
JSW Steel’s Odisha Mining Division was recognised for Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programmes of the Year and Employer Brand of the Year. Two honours underscored the company’s commitment to people as much as to performance.
Accepting the awards, Mr. Ram Shankar Sharma, Operations and Project Head, shared:“These awards are a reflection of our team’s dedication to building an inclusive workplace and strengthening our identity as an employer of choice. They inspire us to push boundaries and continue setting benchmarks in the mining industry.”
Mr. Sharma was joined by his team, whose collective efforts have helped the division stand out in a competitive landscape. Their recognition highlights not just operational excellence, but also the human values driving JSW Steel forward.
The ASSOCHAM Business Excellence Awards are among the highest honours in the corporate world, acknowledging the achievements of corporates, MSMEs, and start‑ups that embrace best practices leading to transformation and growth.
In addition, JSW Steel, Odisha mining division added another feather on its achievement. Two mines— Nuagaon Iron Ore Mine &Narayanposhi Iron & Manganese Ore Mines bagged top awards for the environmental initiatives. Nuagaon Mine &Narayanposhi Mines were conferred with GMF spotlight (Environment Initiative) award and GMF spotlight (Environmental Management) award respectively. Nuagaon mines bagged the award in diamond category while Narayanposhi Mines received award in platinum category.
Mr. Suresh Kumar Mohapatra JSW Steel, Odisha mining division Team-EHS (Environment) and his team received the awards at the gala event organised in Gangtok.
