AM/NS India bags Seven Awards at 43rd Metalliferous Safety Fortnight Observance

Bhubaneswar/Odisha, March 18 : Ghoraburhani Sagasahi and Thakurani Iron Ore Mines of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) bagged seven awards for exceptional safety, sustainability, and efficiency across multiple categories at the 43rd Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Fortnight Observance 2025. The event, organised under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Bhubaneswar Region 1 and Region 2, was held in Bhubaneswar on March 14, 2026.

Thakurani Mine secured four awards, including First Prize in the Safety Management Plan, Safety & Statutory Compliance category for its dedication to safety and excellence, Second Prize in Lead Indicators, Emergency Preparedness, Mock Drill & Accident Statistics category, Second Prize in Innovation & Digitization category and Third Prize in Mechanical Maintenance category. Ghoraburhani Sagasahi Mine received three awards, including First Prizes in Mechanical Maintenance and Electrical Maintenance categories, along with Second Prize in the General Working category.The awards were based on a detailed inspection by an expert team formed under DGMS.

The awards were presentedin the presence of Shri Ujjwal Tah, Director General, DGMS, Dhanbad, along with other dignitaries. Mine agents, Union representatives, mine managers, officers, and employees from various mining companies were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, an impressive stall by AM/NS India showcased the best safety practices in its mines highlighting a strong commitment to “Zero Harm” through technological advancements and proactive measures.

Mines Safety Week is organised every year across different regions of the country to promote safe working practices in mines and to significantly reduce mining accidents.
