Odisha student honoured by Ladakh Lt Governor for International Hindi Olympiad achievement

Bhawanipatna, Feb. 27: Kavinder Gupta, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, felicitated 12-year-old Sunayana Purohit of Odisha for her outstanding performance in the International Hindi Olympiad 2025.

Sunayana, a student of Viksash Residential School, secured the ninth position in the International Hindi Olympiad 2025. She was presented with a citation and trophy at an award ceremony organised by the Hindi Olympiad Foundation at Dabarat Chittaranjan Deshmukh Auditorium in Delhi.

Hailing from Kalahandi district of Odisha, Sunayana is the daughter of Ashutosh and Suchitra Purohit. She is the only participant from Odisha to have achieved a top rank in the prestigious competition this year.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Sunayana said the achievement was possible due to the constant encouragement and guidance of her parents and teachers. “This recognition inspires me to work harder towards my dream. I aspire to become a writer in Hindi literature in the future,” she said.

The young achiever further added that she would continue to put in her best efforts to realise her goal with the support of her teachers, parents and well-wishers.

The recognition has brought pride to Kalahandi district and serves as an inspiration to students across the state.
