Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) reaffirmed its commitment to community development by organising an employee volunteering programme focused on celebrating young minds across its operational areas in Odisha.

The initiative brought together employees and more than 200 children through activities that combined learning, creativity, and cultural exchange.

In Paradeep, the programme began with a cake-cutting ceremony with 54 children and staff members at the Shri Loknath Sikshyashram, Nimidhi and employees of AM/NS India. Employees and children then collaborated on notebook-making activities designed to trigger creativity and teamwork.

The day concluded with a vibrant cultural dance performance by the children. The event was graced by Shri Ch. Hariprasad, Head–Paradeep Pellet Plant, AM/NS India, Shri Sanjive Singh, Head–Finance & Accounts (Odisha), AM/NS India, Shri Prasanta Behera, Head–Finance, AM/NS Ports and Shri Pradipta Kumar Bhuyan, Secretary, Shri Loknath Sikshyashram.

At Thakurani Mine of AM/NS India, employees organised a Science Models Activity for school students. They built 82 practical STEM models such as magnetic levitation, windmill, Newton’s colour disc, electromagnet, and demonstrations on conductors and insulators.

These models were distributed to nearby schools to help students understand science in a practical way and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. Shri Indrakant Saha, Mines Manager, Thakurani Mines, attended the programme and highlighted the importance of participating in hands-on science projects for deeper learning.

Additionally, activities such as drawing, dance, and music competitions, along with engaging games were organised by the HR team for employees and their children across Paradeep and Barbil operations of the company.

By engaging children in creative, educational, and cultural activities, the company not only nurtured young minds but also deepened its connection with local communities. Such programmes reflect AM/NS India’s broader commitment to fostering inclusive growth and building a positive, lasting impact in the regions where it operates.
