Stored Knowledge in the Rig veda

Cuttack, Jul 8 : There was discussion on the stock of knowledge in the Rig-Veda, in the 125th Webinar of the Thinkers’ Club. 

Dr Arnapurna Aacharjya, the Principal of Kanyasrama Mahabidyalaya, Dehradoon in the Uttarakhanda state was the Chief Guest of the meet. She spoke in length about the importance and relevance of the ancient script. As per her, the Vedas are the ancient holy books of the world. In most probability it can be ascribed as the first book of Knowledge. It is composed by the great sage Agni under instructions of a divine source. She dates back the scripture to the beginning of the universe. Since on those days, the alphabets were not invented, people passed on the scripture from one generation to the next by listening to the Gurus. It is otherwise known as “Smriti”. Which refers to something remembered by listening. The Vedas are the core structure of the Indian culture and traditions. It is also referred as the constitution of the God in administrating the universe. In a different version, it can be said, that the Vedas contain knowledge of every branch. Starting from literature, science, engineering, astronomy everything is stored in the Vedas. She advised the present youth to acquire knowledge from veda as it is the primary source of all modern education.

Mr Barada Prasanna Das, the President of the Club presided over the meeting. In his turn, he said that, due to different factors and circumstances the present generation is maintain distance from this invaluable ocean of knowledge. It is a fact that, the western scholars keep Indians culture in high esteem because of the knowledge stored in the Vedas.

Dr Gopal  Chandra Das, Umasankar Misra, Biranchi Mohapatra from Delhi,  Usha Agarwal, Nimai Swain, participated in the discussions. They were of the opinion that the present government should give importance to this ancient scripture and need to take appropriate steps in popularizing vedic studies. Mr Jyoti Malla took care of the technical aspects of the meet. The proceedings of the meet is available in the U Tube: interested persons can go through it.

It was announced that, there will be discussion on Jajur Veda on next Sunday in usual time.  The meeting ended with thanks to the speakers and participants.
