Angul, Jan.09: The Jindal Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), has launched an awareness campaign to combat early child marriage. This initiative aims to educate the community about the dangers of child marriage and encourage efforts to stop this illegal practice in the district.
The District Collector, Shri Abdaal Akhtar, officially launched the campaign’s awareness tableau. The event was attended by several key dignitaries, including Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shri Pratap Pritimaya, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Smt. Nirupama Pani, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Shri Gouri Shankar Behera, along with other ICDS staff and members of the Jindal Foundation.
This collaborative effort seeks to raise awareness about the benefits of marrying at the right age, emphasizing better health, education, and future opportunities for young girls.
The awareness tableau will travel through various villages and towns, delivering important messages and audio content. The campaign focuses on the strict laws against child marriage and the harmful effects it has on the health, education, and overall development of children, especially young girls.
Child marriage cuts short childhood, depriving children of their rights to education, health, and protection. These negative impacts extend beyond the individual, affecting families and communities.
By educating and engaging the public, this awareness tableau represents a significant step towards building a more informed and equitable society.
Simultaneously Jindal Foundation extends unflinching support to the underprivileged girls for higher education of their choice under programme Yashasvi .
