Jindal Foundation’s Kishori Express Flagged Off in Pallahara

Angul, Dec 19: Jindal Foundation the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) launched its flagship project, Kishori Express, in Pallahara Block on 18th December 2024, aimed at addressing critical issues related to adolescent health and nutrition, particularly the elimination of anaemia among adolescent girls.

Kishori Express, equipped with a touch-screen computer for health quizzes, a blood analyser, IFA tablets, sanitary pads, lancet needles, and staff, was flagged-off by the Honourable MLA of Pallahara, Shri Ashok Mohanty; CDMO & PHO of Angul district, Dr. Sibananda Mohanty; Sub-Collector of Pallahara, Shri Sushanta Kumar Pati; in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including ADPHO (FW) Dr. Antaryami Mishra; ADPHO-Vector Borne Diseases Dr Purnima Ugdata; Block Chairperson, Pallahara, Smt Rinarani Nayak; Zilla Parishad Member, Pallahara Smt. Sabitri Majhi; BDO, Pallahara Shri Nishan Mishra; Superintendent, SDH & SDMO, Pallahara Dr. Jamini Bhusan Pattnaik; CDPO Smt Bijayalaxmi Mahanta; BPHO-Khamar Dr. Sashikant Behera, ABEO, Pallahara Shri Basant Kumar Sasani, and HOD- CSR, JSP, Shri Jayanta Kumar Mohanty.

On this occasion Shri Ashok Mohanty, commended Jindal Foundation for its commitment to community welfare, and said “Kishori Express will serve as a vital resource for bringing essential health services and creating awareness among young girls in rural areas.”

Kishori Express is a collaborative project by Jindal Foundation along with Health, ICDS and Education Department. It is a comprehensive initiative to eliminate anaemia among adolescent girls through awareness, education, and intervention. The project focuses on improving haemoglobin (Hb) levels and educating adolescent girls and their parents about the challenges posed by low Hb levels, encouraging them to take action to improve health outcomes.

This customised mobile van with paramedics and support staff will travel to schools and Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in all the villages under 27 gram panchayats in Pallahara block. The team, consisting of qualified paramedics, counsellors, and computer operators, will ensure effective implementation, with regular reports shared with block and district-level authorities.

Jindal Foundation through its Kishori Express initiative across 4 States in India has so far brought significant improvement in the haemoglobin level of more than 7.5  lakh adolescent girls out of various stages of anemia .
