BUDHA JAYANTI CELEBRATED IN JAJPUR

JAJPUR,MAY 16: Gajaraja Sangraha Kendra kaima  celebrated Buddhha jayanti on Buddha purnima at The gajaraja exacavation site at kaima hills of dharmasala block in jajpur district on Monday..The celebration was organized by Dr Nrusingha charana sahoo Researcher and Ex-principal dharmsala mahabidyalay.

The meeting  was presited by Akhil Kumar Swain.On This Occasion Chief Guest IAS Suresh Chandra Dalei Said Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti commemorates the birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha. An important festival of people following the Buddhist faith, it is celebrated in most of East Asia. This year, the festival is observed on May 16. On the occasion, let’s take a look at the must-visit Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India.

It is considered as one of the four main Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Mahabodhi Temple complex houses several holy sites such as the Vajrasana or Diamond Throne, an 80-foot Buddha statue the Mahabodhi Stupa, and a lotus pond. It also has the famous Bodhi tree under which Prince Siddhartha gained enlightenment and became Gautam Buddha.

The site also comprises monasteries belonging to the different sects of Indian Buddhism such as Bhutanese, Taiwanese, Bangladeshi, Thai, and Tibetan.Guest Writer Taraprasad Mishra Said In the month of Vaishakha, Buddha Purnima is said to be very auspicious. It is said that it was on this day that Gautama Buddha obtained enlightenment. Buddha Purnima is also known as Buddha Jayanti, Vesak and Vaishaka. Lord Buddha is believed to be the ninth incarnation of Lord Krishna as the eighth form of Lord Vishnu in North India. Meanwhile, Lord Buddha is never believed to be an avatar of Lord Vishnu.Mishra Said Gautam Buddha, a philosopher who achieved enlightenment after 49 days of uninterrupted meditation under the Bodhi (banyan) tree in Bodhgaya, discovering the key to ending ‘suffering’.
