Shocking: 3 students injured as unidentified object goes off, 1 loses palm

Baliguda, Feb. 1: Three students suffered serious injuries after a yet-to-be-identified object went off at a private school at Rutungia under Baliguda police limits in Kandhamal district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at St Xavier School during the recess period at noon. Of the three, two are reportedly severely injured.
Under the impact of the explosion, one of the injured students reportedly lost his palm. These two students have been identified as Josh Naik and Nihar Naik of Class VII.
All of injured were immediately rushed to Baliguda government hospital but as their condition deteriorated, they were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
According to sources, one of the injured students had brought an object with him to the school. During recess time, he was showing the object to his friends when it exploded, leaving the three students injured.
The school authorities were also clueless as to what the object was and how the incident occurred. They even questioned the students regarding the object; but as they were shocked and terrified, they were not able to speak anything.
The injured students stay in the school’s hostel. So, from where do they get the explosive object? The school authority has no idea about it, rued a local.
The incident sent shockwaves among the parents.
