1126 people get back eye sight through Ispat Drushti Daan Eye Bank of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant

ROURKELA,JUNE 10: Ispat Drushti Daan Eye Bank at Ispat General Hospital of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant,  the  first eye bank in Western Odisha, has successfully retrieved eyesight to 1126 persons since it started functioning  in April 2014.  As a part of the Hospital Corneal Retrieval Programme (HCRP), the eye bank has received 1514 cornea donations out of which 1126 have been implanted. In the current year till date the eye bank had collected 119 corneas and transplanted 84 corneas.

The project that is being implemented as a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of RSP has given a new meaning to the lives of several visually challenged persons who are now  radiating sunshine smile in the real sunshine that they can now see. 

Meanwhile, a Pre retirement employee empowerment workshop ‘ROSHNI’ was held at HRD Centre of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 8th June 2022. Mr. Dhirendra Mishra, GM Incharge  (Personnel-Works) presided over the inaugural session. In all 73 employees including executives are superannuating in the month of June 2022.

The sessions covered topics such as Final Settlement Dues and Financial Security Planning, Procedure for Smooth Final Settlement and SAIL, Mediclaim Scheme, Mindset For Smooth Transition to a New Phase of Life after Retirement, Ensuring Good Health, Well Being of Body and Mind and Safe uses of IT to facilitate smooth and stress-free transition from active employed life to post retirement life. The sessions were taken by executives from different departments namely Mr. G S Das, GM (F&A), Mr. G R Dash, GM (Personnel), Mr. Pappu Kumar, AGM (F&A), Mr.  N C Das, Senior Manager (F&A), Mr. V P Arya, AGM (C&IT), Mr. H K Sahoo, Assistant Manager (TS) and  Dr. S Kumar, Senior Divisional Medical Officer (OHSC)

At the outset, Mr. G R Dash welcomed the gathering while Mr. Rajib Mukherjee, Manager (Personnel) proposed a formal vote of thanks. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. K Panda, Labour Inspector  and the Personnel Welfare Department team of RSP.
