Will highlight India’s commitment to address global challenges, says PM Modi as he heads to Bali for G20

NEW DELHI,NOV 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Indonesia’s Bali, which will take place over November 15-16. He is set to depart for the Indonesian city on Monday.

The summit comes just weeks before India assumes presidency of the exclusive grouping of nations from December 1.

“India will officially assume G20 Presidency from Dec 1; I will extend my personal invitation to G20 members for next year’s summit,” PM Modi said in a statement prior to his departure.

During his 45-hour stay in Bali, PM Modi will have around 20 engagements and hold bilateral meetings with around 10 world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

“At G-20 summit, I will have extensive discussions with other leaders on reviving global growth, food, energy security, health. During my interactions at G20 summit, I will highlight India’s achievements and commitment to collectively address global challenges,” the prime minister said.

 PM Modi will take some time out of his hectic schedule to attend a community event to connect with Indian diaspora in Indonesia, sources told PTI.

At a media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said PM Modi will participate in three key sessions — food and energy security, digital transformation and health — at the G20 summit and that he and other leaders will deliberate extensively on key issues of contemporary relevance, including the state of the global economy, issues relating to energy, environment, agriculture, health and digital transformation.

The G20 summit is set to be attended by US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
