Wild boar  meat seized

JAJPUR,MAY 30 : In a major breakthrough, the forest officials  seized  30 kilograms  of spotted  wild boar ‘s  meat    at Paikarapur village  within   Dalijodi forest range in Jajpur district on  Monday night.

  “We  gathered information regarding illegal transporting  of wild boar ‘s  meat  for which while checking  the  areas  we  seized 30 kilograms of wild boar ‘s meat packed in a sack  from a cycle. But the poacher  fled from the spot, leaving behind his cycle and the meat of the animal,  said Abhiram Jena, the forest range officer of the Dalijoda.

The poachers often trap the  wild boars  by spreading nylon ropes in the nearby  forest and its nearby areas and kill the  animals.

These animals are forced to move into paddy fields in the nearby villages , tempted by grown-up paddy , vegetable crops and dry fish, and poachers kill them, said some locals.
