JAJPUR,JAN 10 : Chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced that Odisha government will give a cash award of Rs one crore to each player of the Indian Hockey team if they win the FIH Men’s World Cup 2023 scheduled to begin from January 13 at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The CM made this announcement after inaugurating Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Complex- the world’s largest hockey stadium at Rourkela.
BJD organising secretary, and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das Said Stating that a golden chapter added to the history of sports in the world, Naveen said, “Birsa Munda Stadium is the greatest gift to the nation from Odisha.
This will make India a powerhouse in the field of hockey and India will establish as a strong team in hockey for decades to come. This stadium will inspire many budding players in the country and the world.” He dedicated the stadium to everyone who loves hockey, players, public and invited all to be a part of the grand hockey world cup festival.
Chief Engnieer Taraprasad Mishra Said , “We congratulate Hockey India for their tremendous efforts in organising the nationwide trophy tour on such a large scale. It was a delight to witness such massive support shown by the fans to our beloved sport all across the country. “Hockey has always been one of the most beloved sports among the people of Odisha, and it is our great pleasure and honour to offer the fans a chance to get a glimpse of the trophy,
The trophy will now go on a state-wide tour over the next three weeks and will travel around 30 districts. Addressing the Trophy Tour. The district administration of Jajpur has arranged all the World Cup hockey matches live on big screens in the newly built hockey stadium at Jajpur town.
The sports department constructed the hockey stadium at Jajpur town at the cost of Rs 25 crores recently with a capacity of 2500 people.
We expect a larger turnout in the stadium to watch the live actions of the hockey players of 16 countries. All the matches will be shown on the two giant screens in the stadium from 13 January to 29 January. Live matches on the big screens will give hockey lovers an experience to cherish for long, said Fakir Mohan Tudu, the District Sports Officer. Around 3000 hockey fans can watch all the matches in this hockey stadium.
Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das, Taraprasad Mishra the Chief Engineer of Publick Works Department and other officials are now busy arranging proper sitting arrangements of the hockey fans in the stadium. This stadium is the only hockey stadium in the district, added Tudu.
