Wanted ISIS terrorist arrested in Delhi

NEW DELHI, AUG 9 : The Special Cell of the Delhi police has arrested an ISIS module terrorist, wanted by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) in the national capital just ahead of Independence Day.

The accused, identified as Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali is a resident of Daryaganj in Delhi.

The National Investigation Agency had declared a reward of Rs 3 lakh for the arrest of Ali. According to a senior Delhi Police officer, the terror suspect was nabbed near Ganga Baksh Marg near Biodiversity Park at around 11 PM.

“One-star pistol of .30 bore, three live cartridges and two mobile phones were recovered from him,” the officer said.

The suspected terrorist Ali had two cases registered against him — one by Delhi Police and the other by Maharashtra Police.

The NIA had in March filed its first supplementary chargesheet and had named four more accused in the Pune ISIS arms and explosives seizure case.

So far, a total of 11 accused have been charge-sheeted by the NIA in the July 2023 case relating to the seizure of arms, explosives, chemicals and ISIS-related literature.

The four accused who were charge-sheeted were identified as Md. Shahnawaz Alam, Rizwan Ali, Abdullah Shaikh and Talha Liyakat Khan.

Last year in October, the Special Cell arrested three suspected ISIS terrorists, including Shahnawaz Alam alias Prince, an engineer by profession, who was hiding in Delhi after fleeing from Pune, Maharashtra.
