Villages mourns the death of six workers in train accident

Jajpur,June 9 : All the six workers who were killed under the wheels of an engineless goods train at Jajpur-Keonjhar Road station in Jajpur district on Wednesday. have been identified as Manas Samal of Gambharia village , Dolagobinda Pradhan of Osala village , Prasant Kumar Jena of Baliapal village ,Bhimsen Jena of Baliapal ,Susant Jena ( of Baliapal and Gautam Samal of Gamharia village under Korei block. They were working as contractual workers to repair railway lines under a contractor.
Heart-rending scenes were witnessed as family members and people from surrounding areas mourned the death of six villagers on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das , Korei MLA Ashok Bal, social worker Taraprasad Mishra and senior officials of the district administration met the family members of train accident victims.
Bishnu Charan Rath the Sarapanch of Bandal Gram Panchayat said “ All the six villagers of our Panchayat died in a train accident on Wednesday. The government and railway authorities should provide proper compensation and other help to the family members of all the victims”.
When contacted Chakravarti Singh Rathore the collector of Jajpur said ‘The district administration has provided Rs20,000 to the family members of each victim on Wednesday . The state government will provide Rs 5 Lakh to them soon”.
