Three arrested after video of assaulting a former  Sarapanch  goes viral

Jajpur, Dec 17: Three persons   were arrested on Saturday in Jajpur district after a video of the miscreants abusing and assaulting a 70-year-old former  Sarapanch of Tarapada Gram Panchayat under Dasarathpur block on Thursday afternoon went viral on social media and police subsequently registered a case acting on the FIR of the victim man. All the three arrested persons have been identified as Manas Mohanty, Rajkishor Mohanty and Manoj Mohanty of Khosla village under Tarapaa Gram Panchayat.

Around eight persons attacked him with belts at Rambagh Chhack under Jajpur Town police station when the victim was going to  Jajpur town on a bike. After investigation, we arrested three accused persons under sections -294 ,323, 504 , 506 and 427  of IPC.

We are investigating the case. Exact motive of the attack is yet to be ascertained.  We suspect past enmity may be the reason behind the brutal attack on the former Sarapanch. Said the IIC of Jajpur Town police station, Ajay Jena.
