 JAJPUR,SEPT 23 : Triveni-Sangam is the convergence of three rivers namely the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the Saraswati in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. It is also one of the mystical places where Hindu devotees flock in the hope of attaining liberation aka Mukti from the cycle of birth and death. Today, the significance of this spiritual hotspot stands internationally recognized.

Also, it is the same place where the world-famous Kumbh Mela takes place every twelve years. Between October to March is the best time to visit Triveni Sangam when the weather is cool and calm for sightseeing.

Though one can visit Triveni Sangam any time of the year, it gets very hot and humid during the winter months. According to our sacred texts, River Saraswati, Ganga, and the Yamuna meet in Prayaga city. Prayaga is the name of the ancient city of Allahabad. This exact place where it happens is called Triveni Sangam because it is the point of amalgamation of the three holy rivers.

Apart from being the holy confluence, it is also considered the place where the drops of nectar had fallen during the Amrit Manthan. Perhaps this is another reason why Kumbh Mela is also organized here. Legends also state that just one dip in the holy waters can help a person significantly in improving their Karma and help them attain Moksha.

The world’s famous gathering Kumbh Mela takes place every 12 years and the Triveni Sangam is one of the four places where Kumbh Mela (Gathering) is celebrated. In Hindu Mythology, it is believed that bathing in Triveni Sangam during Kumbh Mela, cleanses the body and soul while promising the attainment of self-liberation.

It is a very mystical experience to watch different ritualistic poojas that are performed by the Pundits here. Also, common Hindu believers perform poojas like Rudrabhishekam, Ekadash Rudrabhishekam Pooja, Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam Yagya, and others. To reach Triveni Sangam, Uttar Pradesh you will need to cover a total distance of about 749, 1,388, 798, 1,731 km from major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru respectively.

Here are the following details on how you can travel to Triveni Sangam by the following means of public transport. The nearest airport is the Allahabad Airport (IXD) aka Prayagraj Airport situated in Bamrauli at 20-30 km away from Triveni Sangam. The airport is well connected with nearby cities and towns via direct and connecting flights.

 From the airport, you will need to continue your journey further by some means of public transport. If planning to travel via Indian Railways then consider deboarding at the Allahabad Railway Junction (ALD), Naini Junction (NYN), or Prayagraj Junction (PRG). All of these railheads are situated within 11 km from the Triveni Sangam, thus, it would be easier for you to continue your journey after deboarding at any of the stations via a cab or some other means of public transport.

 Depending upon your convenience and budget you can also choose to travel here via road as well. The roadways and national highways are well-maintained and easily motorable. According to your budget, you can hire a cab, bus or you can also consider traveling via your own vehicle.
