Success of India’s democracy, institutions causing envy among some: PM Modi
NEW DELHI,MAR 19 : Delivering the keynote address at India Today Conclave 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India has shown the world that democracy can deliver. PM Modi said the attacks by some people on India’s democratic institutions were because of their success.
“In any nation’s development, the stagnation in policy-making is one of the biggest obstacles. In our country, because of old thinking and old approaches, because of the limitation of some families, there has been a long stagnation,” PM Modi said. “If we want to move ahead, there has to be momentum, the courage to take decisions. If the nation wants to grow, there should be the capability to embrace novelty.”
PM Modi spoke about the strength of India’s democratic institutions and listed a number of new institutions that have been created in India in the past few years.
“Whatever India is achieving today, it is due to the power of our democracy, the power of our institutions”, PM Modi remarked. He said that the world is witnessing the democratically elected government of India take decisive decisions. PM Modi highlighted the new institutions created in India in the past years and gave the example of the International Solar Alliance and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. PM Modi also touched upon NITI Aayog playing a big role in deciding the future roadmap, the National Company Law Tribunal playing an important role in strengthening corporate governance in the country, and the role of the GST Council in creating a modern tax system in India. He also noted that many elections were successfully held in the country amid Corona.

PM Modi said, “In the midst of a global pandemic, India’s economy was strong, and the banking system is strong. And this is the strength of our institutions.”
He went on to add, “The success of our democracy and democratic institutions is causing envy and that is why our democracy and democratic institutions are being attacked.”
“But I am sure, even in the midst of these attacks, India will move fast towards its goals, and will achieve its goals,” PM Modi said at India Today Conclave 2023.
