Stones pelted, bikes set on fire as students clash with security guards at Allahabad University
PRAYAGRAJ,DEC 19: A clash broke out between students of Allahabad University and security guards on Monday. Incidents of stone pelting were reported during the scuffle and bikes was also set on fire in Prayagraj.
On Monday, a former student leader, Vivekananda Pathak, was trying to enter the university when his car was stopped by the security guards. Pathak allegedly slapped the guard for stopping him. In retaliation, the security guards at the spot thrashed Pathak.
This led to a clash between a few varsity students and security guards.
Speaking to India Today over phone, ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that the situation has been brought under control and officials are talking to both sides.
