Special Parliament session called from September 18 to 22

NEW DELHI,AUG 31 : A special session of Parliament is being called from September 18 to 22, having 5 sittings, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday.

“Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to have fruitful discussions and debate in Parliament,” he said.

However, the government has not revealed the agenda for the special sitting of Parliament.

Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi reacted to the announcement of the special sitting and said it was “unfortunate” that the session was “called during India’s most important festival of Ganesh Chaturthi”. She added that the call for the special sitting “goes against the Hindu sentiments”.

The Monsoon Session of the Parliament took place from July 20 to August 11 with a total of 17 sittings spread over a period of 23 days. The sessions saw disruptions almost every day over the violence in Manipur and the opposition leaders moved a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
