School of HRM, XIM University (New Campus) successfully hosts annual HR Conclave – Kshitij

Bhubaneswar, Nov. 2: School of Human Resource Management, XIM University (New Campus), Odisha, successfully hosted its annual HR conclave – Kshitij, on the 29th October, 2022.
The theme for the conclave was “Changing Work and Workplace: Implications for Business.” The event started with an opening address by Dr. Andrew Dutta, Dean School of Human Resource Management, followed by a welcome and an inaugural address by Fr. S. Antony Joseph Raj, S.J., Registrar, context setting address by Ms. Bobby Patnaik, Vice President, NHRDN and HR Business Leader, Infosys.
The conclave featured thought-provoking presentations and panel discussions led by eminent HR professionals. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. B.K. Das, Director General (- Electronics & Communication Systems, DRDO, and Dr. Sunil Singh, CHRO, Stellar Value Chains Pvt. Ltd. & Founder of Mindstream Consulting. The phrase “Change is the only thing constant in this world” was reiterated as they explored the future workplace. Additionally, the speakers described how technology gives humans freedom and flexibility.
The inauguration ceremony was completed with the launch of HRXpert, the Annual Magazine of the School of Human Resource Management, XIM University.
The event saw an invigorating panel discussion, followed by a case study competition. The details of the event are as follows-
Panel 1: Changing Work and Workplace: Implications for Business
The eminent speakers of the conclave were-
1. Mr. Amitabh Singh, Head Of Business HR, Leadership And Capability Development, ICICI Bank, opened the discussion by stating that the current generation is the next India and is putting a strong emphasis on workplace flexibility. He added that assessing HR can help an organization achieve success and positively affect the organization culture
2. Ms.LipikaVerma, Vice President- Rewards & Performance Innovation & Thought Leadership, Schneider Electric, initiated the discussion by talking about the work, workers, and workplace. She spoke about the dramatic change that covid has brought in the last two years. She also highlighted attraction, motivation, and talent retention as issues for the new evolving workplace in relation to the Gallup report.
3. Ms.Renu Bohra, Chief People Officer, India & Indian Subcontinent, DB Schenker India Pvt. Ltd., discussed how the workplace has become intangible due to the widespread use of technology and flexibility. She spoke about current changes in work, the great resignation, and quiet working. She imparted the lesson of being adaptable.
4. Mr.SatishMohapatra, VP & Head HR, Siemens Smart Infrastructure, initiated the discussion with the quote, “work is something you do, not someplace you go to.” He listed several benefits of the workplace, including teamwork, trust, leadership, etc. He underlined the value of connectivity for managers and leaders and discussed various business model challenges and variational workforce. He also shared how the QSQT (Quarter Se Quarter Tak) approach can help human resource managers.

Panel 2: Case Study Competition
Kshitij’22 organizes a case competition every year that attracts students from top colleges, universities, and industry stalwarts. It comprised three rounds- a quiz, case study submission, and the grand finale. The case study was based on the topic of the conclave “Changing Work and Workplace: Implications for Business.” The grand finale was held on the day of the conclave, where 11 teams represented their respective case solutions. At the event’s closing ceremony, the winners were announced and were awarded certifications and a cash prize of 1.5 lakhs.

1st Runner-Up : Team Ashwathama, IIM Amritsar
2nd Runner-Up : Team Friends, XIM University

The aim of the event was to bring together eminent industry stalwarts under one roof to discuss trending business and human resource-related themes.
The event was successfully concluded with the closing speech by Dr.SantanuRath, President, NHRDN, Bhubaneswar Chapter, and a vote of thanks addressed by Ms.KadambariKhare, coordinator XIMAHR,the HR Association of XIM University.
