Sand mafia arrested trying to mow down Tehsildar

Jajpur , March 31 :  A sand mafia was arrested in Jajpur  district on Thursday on the charges of trying to mow down  Tehsildar of Dasarathpur  near the illegal sand mining site in the river Baitarani at village Palasahi under Kasaba Gram Panchayat under Mangalpur police station.

The Tehasildar of Dasarathpur , Biswajit Sethi lodged an FIR in the police station on Wednesday evening  and alleged that the arrested accused Rajesh Sethi a sand mafia and his tractor driver  tried  to run over  him and his driver  when their sand-laden tractor  was intercepted  by the Tehasildar on Wednesday evening.

  Both the Tehasildar and his driver   managed to get away  . Both  the accused  speed away  from the spot with their tractor.

 Acting on the FIR, we launched an investigation and arrested one of the accused Rajesh Sethi on Thursday under section- 307 of IPC. Police also seized a tractor in this case. Police are investigating the case, said the IIC of Mangalpur police station, Inamul, Haq .
