River embankment caved in

Jajpur,Aug 17 : Around  200 feet  long  river embankment at Balarampur village under Dasarathpur block  in Jajpur  district  caved on Thursday .

Many  locals  alleged that the  embankment in the river Baitarani   collapsed  due to substandard work of the  irrigation department.

Many locals  alleged “ The officials of the irrigation department   had  not properly repaired the embankment   as a result a portion of the river embankment had fallen  and a major portion was on the verge of collapse   “.

 aIt may be recalled that  a portion of embankment on the river Kharosotra  at Olichandanpur village under Binjharpur block   in Jajpur district  caved on  last Wednesday .

When contacted  Antrajami Mohanty , the  Assistant  Executive  Engineer of the irrigation  department ,   Jajpur  division   said “ Senior officials of the department  rushed to the spot on  Thursday  to repair   the damaged patch of the embankment .
