Rape and murder accused fugitive arrested after two months

Jajpur , April 22 : A 26 year old fugitive of Jajpur district , who had allegedly raped and killed a minor girl at a village under Bari-Ramachandrapur police station and had given cops a slip over two months was arrested by police on Thursday in Bangalore.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Subrat Behera (25) of Anyasapur village under Bari- Ramachandrapur police station on Thursday in Bangalore. He has reportedly confessed to his crimes to the police, said the IIC of Bari- Ramachandra police station, Manoj Kumar Swain.
Subrat was accused of committing rape and murder of a 14 year old minor girl on 18 February. A case was registered in this case under 376 ( rape ) , 302(murder) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC and under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act , 2012 . After committing the heinous crime , the accused fled to Bangalore where he had been working in a private company added the police officer.
The accused was produced in the local court on Friday. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him in jail custody , added the police officer.
